Summary:
Evanhoe and Associates is currently seeking a Network Engineer to work onsite in Washington, DC.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement and administer computer and information networks, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), intranets, extranets, and other data communications networks including Software Defined Networks (SDN), Application Analysis, and Quality of Service.
- Perform network analysis, troubleshooting, administration of network and computer security measures. Can assist in research and recommendations on network and data communications hardware and software.
- Perform work that will include a variety of complex features and require multi-or interdisciplinary approaches.
- Examples of other activities include the following:
- Network architecture and strategic planning
- Evaluate network performance reports and provide network consulting support
- Experienced Engineer with capabilities to administer a network consistent with customer service level requirements and approved requirements document (i.e. IPv6, multi-VRF, QOS, etc.)
- Plan logical addressing, redundancy, capacity (logical & physical).
- Provide network design implementation and Tier 3 operations support.
- Provide technical information for architects to complete final technical editing of all documents and proposals
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge and experience to work at an enterprise level in a cross-functional team to assist the teams meet SLAs.
- Great, customer-focused, team-oriented communications and consultative skills, be highly accountable, be self-directed and productive with strong work ethic, be willing to show "presence" and availability on IM during business hours
- Experience with multi-vendor Firewalls, multi-vendor switches and routers
- Experience in multiple network architectures – tiered, spine/leaf
- IPv6 engineering implementation experience
- Assist project for advanced and state-of-the-art technology such as network optimization, specification of equipment configurations, technology assessment, technology insertion planning, capacity planning, and configuration management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possess 3-5 years of related systems engineering experience, including experience in the following areas:
- Managing MPLS/VPN networks
- Managing SDN
- Participated in Data Centers utilizing Virtual Switching Systems (VSS) and/or Virtual Private Cloud (VPC)
- Knowledge with Tellabs GPON/Optical LAN Networking
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DHS Entry On Duty (EOD)
- Must hold an active TS clearance and be able to obtain and maintain SCI
- CCNA or equivalent certification required
Preferred Qualifications:
- CCNP or equivalent preferred
